A number of books have been donated by Asia Foundation this year. The first batch of books was received through a personal visit by the Executive Librarian in April 2009 to Asia Foundation Head Office in Sri Lanka . A total of 17 titles were received in this batch.

The second batch of Asia Foundation books was received through the Maldives National Library. These books were handed over to the MCHE Library at a small function held at the National Library on 3 May 2009. A total of 69 books were received.

A third & fourth batch of books was received during September 2009 through the Ministry of Education. The MCHE Library was asked to select items from a large shipment of books received by the Ministry for distribution to libraries throughout the Maldives. 297 items were selected in the first batch on 8 September 2009, and 401 items were selected in the second round on 30 September 2009.

All the above combined, a total of 784 monograph items (297 titles) were received from Asia Foundation during 2009. The following is the list of titles. Some of the titles have already been added to the MCHE Central Library collection. The other titles with multiple copies will be distributed among the MCHE libraries including the Campus Libraries, where applicable.

It will take a few months to catalogue and process the entire collection. In the meantime, if there are any titles of urgent need that has not already been added to the library collection, do communicate with us and we will arrange for the requested titles to be prioritized.
